FLAMENCO QUEER,
A NEW SPANISH COMPAS
I met Jerho and Rúben in Spain in the popular neighborhoods on the outskirts of Barcelona. This is a duo of flamenco artists who opened their doors to me with access to their backstage.
They opened their doors to me so that I could document their daily life, their passions, their questions, their doubts, their art... In short, their life. Flamenco Queer is a group of friends united by the love of flamenco where each passionately shows through song, guitar or dance a poignant aspect of their life. Passion guides everything: the choice of costumes, that of songs, the staging, the fire is everywhere. For an art that embodies tradition, this flamenco group brings a poignant breath of fresh air. Tragic claims of love, sublimation of friendship and carrying the Queer movement through this art.
